I really want to go through with this fan-fiction-izing of Forever Broken
but something just occurred to me, something just sorta…i guess sunk in that i’ve never really properly processed in my mind:
If i do that, I’m gonna have to rewrite Cupcakes.
Idk, it’s weird, ‘cause i spend so little time focusing on the actual death of rainbow dash, and so much on the build up and aftermath, that If i do it in fanfic form, I’m gonna have to actually put detail that I intentionally left out of the song, or at the very least find a more clever way about it than just convenient omission.
I guess, after a year of having that fucking song under my belt and over my head, I sorta stopped associating it with the story that, despite my utter distaste of it, was used as a basis for the something broke, and subsequently the forever broken story line. I mean, I wrote something broke because I hated cupcakes, and frankly my opinion about it has gotten worse over the past few months - Something Broke, when it was first released, was a troll song; 20 minutes long, riddled with pointless time signature changes and dissonant chords/melodies, and about the most vile, disgusting, and poorly written gorefic I knew of at the time because people kept on joking about how I wrote long and dark songs. It was nothing more than a playful jump to an extreme merely to show that my stuff honestly wasn’t as bad as it could be. Next thing I know, the soundcloud link is on EQD, and people are literally starting fandom battles over it. I’m getting people telling me how much they love it, and others saying i should kill myself for even thinking about such a thing, and here I am thinking “…wow, that escalated quickly”.
A year later, I guess, in the end, the joke’s on me; I’ve got an entire plotline based around it, most of the people who are fans of my music learned of me through something broke, and I’m slotted to perform it in its entirety at Canterlot Gardens. I’d be ignorant and in denial to say that it was anything less than my most popular song, and, in the 12 months since i first put out that shitty-ass demo (‘cause let’s be honest, guys: i whipped it all up in a week, and even considering how inexperienced I was at the time with production the mixing was abysmal), I’ve managed to make the improvements on the orchestration that I had wanted to when I was writing it, and write out 2+ disks worth of plotline and material to be used in a story album that, admittedly, I’m fairly excited for.
That all being said, even when I was writing it, I sorta just took the general idea of the Cupcakes fanfiction, and made it my own; instead of a gore-fic, I had a psychological thriller. Instead of Pinkie just doing some sick, demented job, I have her target out rainbow dash. I made it, at least in my head, plausible, and tried to give logic and plot to a story devoid of either. But it sort of sank in tonight, while trying to give an outline for the story to help me organize my thoughts, that I’ve removed it from the original story far enough that I’ve basically been able to subconsciously deny that they’re one and the same, albeit mine a bit more in depth - pinkie kills rainbow dash in cold blood and makes her into fucking cupcakes. I mean, I’ve thought about it, and every time I’ve gotten to that point in my previous outlines, I’ve just put “Cupcakes” and skipped to the next line, and in my old lyrics I practically avoided the actual topic of wounding her save for 4 lines, and the word “die” screamed over the course of 15 and a half measures.
Idk, it’s a bit of a reality check, and I’m just rambling, because though I plan on going through with this, I can’t say I thought that, a year ago when I wrote it, I’d be so widely known for it, and that I’d be preparing to recreate a story that’s a major contender for my least favorite fanfic I’ve ever read. It’s just a bit of an “oh shit o.o” moment, I suppose.
Anyway, yeah. Might be looking for help organizing this shit, so if you actually read through this and you’ve gotten to this point and feel you can be of assistance (either for prereading or what have you), send me an ask or message me on skype.
Sorry for the wall of text, too.
Alrighty, guys, i need ideas for lyrics
To set the mood: It’s the week before Nightmare Night, and the town is preparing for the celebration. Pinkie is preparing as well, though not the same way as the rest of the town - while everybody’s preparing for festivities, she’s preparing for a massive hunt in secret, planning on taking advantage of the night and the horror-themes to help her get a large payload. All the while, twilight is worrying about what could happen, since she’s already caught on to pinkie’s crimes, and fears that pinkie is gonna do pretty much exactly what she’s gonna do.
If you guys send me something, and I use it, even a segment or as inspiration, I’ll give you a writing credit. I’m stumped for this song, I truly am, and since It’s supposed to start off disc 2 of Forever Broken, I want it to be big, special, and dramatic. It’s literally setting the scene for all of Forever Broken Disc II.
Again, anyone who helps me out successfully gets a writing credit. I can’t promise I’ll use anybody’s submissions, but that being said I could end up using all of them - who knows~ But any help you guys could give, HONEST help, would be greatly appreciated.
The Morning After
track two of Forever Broken
Pinkie has killed rainbow dash, and the following morning (and weeks), she manages to get away with it…except twilight is suspicious.
The Morning After
Track 2 off Forever Broken
(This is a demo. I whipped all the vocals, guitars, and bass up in about 2 hours. It’s poorly mixed, but it gives me a good idea of what I wanna do with the track)
She spent the night cleaning the blood
Tediously caring, all the while swearing
Was it worth it in the end?
Now she’s lost one of her friends?
No.
She told the town she left with just a note
Something she had wrote down as an afterthought, it seemed
Revelations no one dreamed
She’s gone, flew high
Took off, no goodbye
She left home (bye bye)
They had fallen for her lie
Sweating as she baked
Triumph as they ate the pony they now grieved
And mourned but soon the town would rest their tired eyes
And no surprise within a week the town moved on
The worry gone, except for one
She theorized, hypothesized
Regrettably she came to see
The fault might lay on one pony
And so began our tragic story
What comes next is dark and gory
Horrors of the fatal dreamers
Not the squeamish or the screamers
Take precaution, heed what’s said
Learn the lessons of the dead
Shedding tears and words unspoken
A perfect circle; forever
Broken
Smile once for me, would you
Nothing you can’t do
Let me remember what it was like
To live without fear
To smile ear to ear
Those days are now gone, no more shall the light
Brighten my day, the shadows are engulfing all that has past
Now that she is gone, through madness and insanity, have I found my peace at last?
What caused her to leave here
All that she held dear
What’s going on? they don’t have a clue
Friends feel rejected
One they protected
Now ran away - what are they to do?
Silently the lies are piling,
Keeping them from restoration
Ponies around growing tired
Of Twilight’s investigation
Pinkie on the other hand
was trying hard at acting fine
Intensely faking everything
To go unpunished for her crime
But, here in the town, everypony else moves on with their lives
They all passed unaware of the horrors that took place right before their eyes!
(intense dueling solo)
Now, sitting in silence
Stained by the violence
No pony’s sure of what now to do
Pinkie is silent, twilight defiant
Everyone else they don’t have a clue
After a week, everypony else moved on with their lives
Alone in the dark, pinkie couldn’t help but wish their demise
